In the book Upplands Runinskrifter, three sketches of U 798
can
be found. I chose the one made by Bureus in 1639, since I
think
it is the most accurate.

In the 17th century, the stone was described as almost
round.
This must have been a description of the carving surface,
not
the stone per se, since it was described as lying down in
1639.
Around 1840, the stone was used as filling in the
construction of
the road. This was remembered around 20 years later, but no
one
could tell where exactly the stone was lying.
If we had the approximate location of the
stone, it could easily be found by using a
ground-penetrating radar. The smooth surface is probably
facing upwards and should
be easily recognised due to its round shape. Its diameter is
of about 1.5 m.
Below, you can see an article in Swedish on U 798,
taken from the book Upplands Runskrifter.
