Church of Svinnegarn

Size: 1.82 m x 1.17 m

The original inscription:
Järund reste sten d-- -- (denna efter) Jarl, sin son. Gud hjälpe anden hans.

The inscription in English:
Järund raised t(his) stone (in memory of) Jarl, his son. May God help his soul.

The same inscription can be found
on U 762.

For no obvious reason, the carving is mirrored.
Only one more of Erik's stones was carved in the same way, U 857.

There are some rounded runes.
The runes are unevenly distributed and the spaces between them are of different size.

There are five S-runes, of which the last one is back to front and placed outside the tail of the snake. The others are carved with short middle staffs.

Below, you can see an article in Swedish on U 779, taken from the book Upplands Runskrifter.
